Comments: Coconut Grove is an exquisite thoroughbred stallion with a beautiful head and expression. He has a medium build and is very correct in his conformation and legs, and is known to improve leg conformation in his offspring. He has a good temperament with a willing and honest character. With a quality pedigree, an outstanding performance record and sound conformation, Coconut Grove exemplifies the best of what an exceptional thoroughbred stallion has to offer a breeding program. He is an excellent choice to produce jumpers and event horses.

Coconut Grove is the first Thoroughbred stallion in the U.S. to be granted a breeding license by the American Holsteiner Horse Association and the American Hanoverian Society. He has 100% positive approval status with 9 European, 9 U.S. and 1 Canadian Registry, the only thoroughbred in U.S. history to accomplish this feat. In 2005, he was chosen for the highly selective Hanoverian Jumper Breeding Program.

Coconut Grove is an outstanding performer with a pedigree proven to produce jumpers. Coconut Grove is often described as "amazing" in editorial columns. He is very agile and a careful jumper, has abundant scope and his jumping technique is excellent.

Important Announcement – February 20, 2010

Dear Mare Owners,

Please note that as of 2010 October Hill Farm’s stallions *Coconut Grove and Mezcalero will no longer be nominated stallions to the International Jumper Futurity (IJF) program. After much consideration and assessment of the value of the current IJF program to our business, and with the knowledge that there is little interest among foal owners in the program, we find we can no longer carry the expense.

This decision in no way affects the eligibility of your 2011 foals in the Young Jumper Championship program, or any foals in the years following, as long as the YJC’s current rules of qualification continue to stand. We feel that the YJC program is a more dynamic and appropriate program for young sporthorses and hope you will take advantage of the series when your young prospect achieves the appropriate age.

We would also like to take this opportunity to reiterate our strongest hope that you will provide sire and dam information on your USEF recording applications when submitting them for a USEF life number for your foal. This is an important way for stallion owners to track the performance of their stallion’s progeny, and we rely heavily on you to help the USEF, and indeed the equine industry, to create an accurate national sporthorse database. Please also be aware that some registries, such as AHHA and BWP, are now providing your foal with a USEF life number as a part of the studbook registration process. If this is the case with your registry of choice, the USEF will have the sire and dam information already on file.

Thank you and good luck in all your equine endeavors in 2010!

Wendy Davis Gerrish

Coconut Grove descends from the Bold Ruler / Damascus cross, lineage proven to produce international caliber jumpers. This combination of blood produced the legendary Grand Prix jumper and sire, Napur, a multiple Grand Prix winner and Best American Horse in the 1987 World Cup Finals.

Dare to Pet, sire of Coconut Grove descends from the sire line of Bold Commander , a brother to Mighty Ruler who was a Grand Prix winner and member of the 1974 USET Team. Bold Commander descends from the great Bold Ruler, second Leading Race Horse Sire of the Century, he appears in the pedigrees of Allegro, member of the Prix de Nations and Nations Cup teams and Pressurized, multiple Grand Prix winner.

The male female line is represented by Roman, sire of Volunteer, Nations Cup winner in 1980 & Canadian team Gold Medal winner, and Dutch Crown, 2nd in the 1979 American Gold Cup and a Puissance winner at. The male female lines also contain John's Joy, sire of Jet Run, individual and team Gold Medal Winner of the Pan Am Games in 1979. The strong jumper producing lines of Blenheim, Teddy, Dark Ronald an Hyperion are also found in the male side of the pedigree.

Coconut Grove's dam Coral Gables produced Satra, who was a member of the National Show Jumping team for Colombia. Coral Gables is a descendant of the great race horse sire, Damascus, the 1967 Horse of the Year and a producer of 415 winners of over $26,000,000.00. Damascus sired Mokheiba, 8th All Time Sire of Steeplechase winners and Napur, the well known Grand Prix jumper who is the sire of many hunter and jumper winners, including Get A Clue, winner of the individual gold and team silver at the Young Riders of North American Championships and the Jr/Am Rider of the Year at Spruce Meadows in 1998. Present in the dam's sire line is My Babu, who produced the exceptional jumper sire, The Hammer, who in turn sired the phenomenal jumpers Sympatico, leading Grand Prix horse 1972-75, Golden Gavel, USET team member, and Jackson County, leading jumper in 1979. The Sire lines of Man O' War and Tourbillon are present.
