CascaniDate of Birth: 1997 Breed: Holsteiner Height: 16.1hh Stud Fee: $1250 Booking Fee: $250 Discounts: Premium Mares and Multiple Bookings Breed Approvals: AHHA, RPSI Comments: Cascani is by the perennially popular Holsteiner stallion Cassini I, a beloved son of the great sire Capitol I. This stallion line is one of the most sought after among breeders in Germany today, with Cassini I and his full brother Cassini II breeding well over 600 mares per year. Cascani's dam, from stamm 456, is also the mother of the Alcatraz son Askano, who stands at the Verband in Elmshorn. Cascani was presented as a young stallion and received approval in Hessen and in the Rhineland-pfalz-Saar region. He was subsequently exported to Mexico at three years of age where he was discovered by Erin Davis and brought to October Hill Farm. He is a very personable, kind and gentle stallion, and, typical of all Cassini offspring, he exhibits very correct jumping form and an amateur-friendly attitude. His athletic abilities are only enhanced by his exceptionally nice movement, no doubt introduced by the presence of Carneval and Marlon in his mother's line. Cascani competed in the high amateurs and local Grand Prix, with great placings at outings in such locations as Vermont, Wellington, Tampa, Del Mar and Pebble Beach. Due to injury, Cascani was officially retired from showing in 2007 and is now standing full time at October Hill Farm. Cascani was presented to and approved by the RPSI and the AHHA based on his pedigree and his success in sport.

Cassini I
Cassini I Cascani is by Cassini I, a highly sought-after sire of performance and riding horses throughout Europe and the entire world. A great competitor in his own right, Cassini I was the winner of the 1994 Federal German Showjumping Championships, and later was campaigned internationally by Franke Sloothaak, winning, among others, the Arnheim Grand Prix, several Nations Cups as well as World Cup showjumping events. His offspring are in great demand and have proven themselves many times over in the toughest competitive arenas. |

Capitol I
Cassini I is the son of Capitol I, one of the greatest Holsteiner showjumping sires and father of forty approved stallions. Capitol I was richly endowed with the heritage of two great Thoroughbred descendants of the Bay Ronald line - Cottage Son xx and Manometer xx, and also carried a double cross of the influential Anglo-Arab, Ramzes. With a phenomenal breeding index of 182, he headed the FN young jumping stallion ratings. Capitol's dam, Folia, showed great jumping potential herself, and also produced the licensed stallions Latus I and II, as well as Capitol II, and famous daughters U-Capitola (dam of Lord Capitol from Lord and Quite Capitol from Quidam de Revel). |

Caletto II
Cassini I's dam is by the highly successful sire Caletto II, and despite only standing for four short seasons, Caletto II is shaping up to be the most important son of the jumping supersire, Cor de la Bryere. In the WBCSH top fifty rankings for 1991-2000, Caletto II ranks 16th thanks to the jumping efforts of 14 progeny - the most highly ranked being Operette La Silla and Olympic medalist Classic Touch. Caletto II was a sensation right from the start and was acclaimed Champion of his stallion licensing in 1980 - he was considered the perfect Holsteiner type. He also showed wonderful jumping technique, and later proved this in the showjumping ring with Herbert Bloeker. |

Carneval
Cascani is out of Tatra, a daughter of Carneval out of a Marlon xx mare. She also produced the Verband-approved stallion Askano (by Alcatraz). Carneval, a product of the influential 104A stamm and champion of the 1976 stallion approval, was a fabulous, energetic mover who passed enormous jumping ability to his progeny. Among other famous offspring, his notable daughter, Texas, is the dam of such outstanding horses as: Flemmingh, top-producing dressage horse with the KWPN; Gaspari I, sire of Lauren Hough's Windy City; and 1995 Holsteiner Approvals Champion and outstanding premium producer Littorio. |
